Financial Questions to Think About in a Relationship or Marriage.

One of the Good things about being in a relationship is that you are able to increase your savings and financial power two fold; the not so good thing is that if you do not talk about Financial matters before starting a serious relationship or getting married can create a nightmare in any relationship. There are so many changes that happens when you include another person in your life to share everything with, but many couples do not talk about their plans for the future and many can not come to a compromise when it comes to financial matters. Here are some things that you need to consider before and during an on going relationship to help the road become smoother for both parties involved.

Who is going to manage the money? the bill paying, investment research etc.. or is this going to be a joint venture. Do you trust your partner when it comes to financial matters if No then why not?
If you are going to have children what kind of arrangements will be made How much debt are being brought into the marriage or relationship
How often should we review or financial situation once a week once a month? What are your joint long term financial goals?
Are you OK with your partners present financial circumstances?  How much spending or pocket money should each person have?
Should we have a joint account? Who will be working? Will it be full time or part time.
Guardianship or custody Will you have a prenuptial agreement?

These are some things to think about before and during a relationship, we know at times that things can get really rough but the best thing is to be prepared see luck favors the prepared. Utilize all tools and resources that you need to not only protect yourselves but also be ale to have financial peace of mind, with so negativity  going on in the world a household should be a place of peace and refuge. So each persons goal should be to create such a place. No one likes a house of discord.

A Little Advice For Unmarried Couples
Marriage is a good thing simply because of the legal commitment involved but if you are not married here are a few things to look at because if something happens to your partner and you love and care for each other then you should prepare for some form of protection.

Prepare a will Consider Owning joint Property
Prepare a power of attorney Prepare a medical power of attorney
Prepare a living will Have a life insurance policy

Should bills be split up 50/50 or should each pay a percentage according to their income?

If one party make $25,000 per year and another makes $17,000 per year, the combine income will be $42,000 per year. Divide $25000 by$ 42,000 and it will come out to around 60% next Divide$17000 by $42,000 which is 40% this way it will be an equal share of each others income level. You know that you will be paying your true fair share. have a joint account for household expenses and have a separate account for personal, this is only fair even though you are together doesn't mean that a person still could not have their own personal account.
