Generational wealth starts young with the proper information, practice and realistic goals it is possible to teach your children about finance.

Your are the most important person in your child's life, they watch everything you do even when it comes to finances, they watch your spending habits and money woes. The primary goal is to break the cycle of financial bondage and turn it into financial control and empowerment. Here are some tips to help your child to become more financially wise.

 

  • Let your child see your pay check and let them know that where the money is going for there basic needs. FOOD CLOTHING SHELTER
  • Improve your own understanding of personal finances, set a good example to follow
  • Talk regularly about money. Involve kids in money-related activities (eg. counting, sorting, shopping, banking, bill paying).
  • Start early with books about money
  • Coloring sheets and books. Visit your local bank or credit union and ask them if they have any coloring sheets and coloring books for kids.
  • Piggy banks and saving jars. Get your child a piggy bank or, better yet, create your own. If you are going to purchase one,
  • Get board games and cash registers. Monopoly (Junior), Payday, etc.
  • Allowance. There’s no substitute for experience. Give kids an opportunity to manage their own money and make their own mistakes. But guide them along the way.
  • Set saving goals! Let them buy their own things with the money they save.
  • Make it fun
